Subsurface Electrification Operator Alignment Group (SEOAG) Update to COIN Members
The SEOA Group was initially proposed by bp and brought operators and service companies to work together within COIN from 2023-2025 before forming a cross-industry workgroup outwith the network to progress the IWIS white paper and input to the API 19E update.
Graham Hardie and Pavel Nazarenko of BakerHughes gave us updates on both the IWIS white paper and API 19E updates that the Subsurface Electrification Operator Alignment Group (SEOAG) have been progressing over the past year or so, followed by a Q&A session. Graham is co-chair of the IWIS Group and Pavel sits on the API 19E committee.
The summary and recording from this meeting will be made available to COIN members soon.

Gas Lift Barrier Element Best Practices Operator Workgroup (GLVBEBPOW)
A group of COIN Operator members, led by Suncor and Shell, have put together an Operator Workgroup to:
1. Review current approaches to risk mitigation when using gas lift valves as well barrier elements in subsea wells.
2. Share best practices in design, operation, testing, risk management, and remediation of gas lift valve barrier elements in subsea wells. Design refers to well completion design elements such as unloading valves and A-annulus fluid (leading to potential corrosion issues in the interface between packer fluid and injection gas).
3. Generate a report; “Operators Recommendations for Gas Lift Wells Design, Operation, Barrier Testing (including acceptance Criteria/performance standards) and Remediation”.
Meetings will be held at 6-8 week intervals during 2025 and beyond.
